Description
“SCOOTER’S OFFY” - It’s the artist's goal, with most of his paintings, to try to tell a story that reflects the fun we have with cars. This painting was created as a remembrance of midget racing at Denver’s Historic Lakeside Speedway. The “story” suggests that “Scooter”, a fictitious Speed Shop owner, has towed his mid-sixties midget to Lakeside with his ’28 Sedan Delivery for a night of racing. Just before he heads out on the track girlfriend is shown handing him his helmet. David Birmingham of Phoenix, Arizona originally owned the midget. Sponsored by Ramada Inns, it finished 4th in USAC National Points on two occasions. During it’s racing days it was driven by Jerry McClung, Eddie Jackson, Billy Englehart, Don Brown, Rick Montgomery, Tommy Frantz, and Dale Schleiger. The car is now part of the Leroy Beyers Collection. Signed and Numbered Limited Edition Print from an edition of 500. Measures aprx. 15" x 24".
